Qigong for Health and Vitality
Traditional Chinese Medicine is the oldest continuously practiced medical system in the world. It is based on the principle that all humans are born with a reservoir of energy which sustains life. External factors such as infections, physical and emotional trauma, extremes of temperature, toxins in the environment, and poor lifestyle choices, deplete this reservoir of energy and destroy harmony and balance within the human body . All Western diseases are manifestations of this disharmony and loss of energy. There are three pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine that restore energy and balance, namely: acupuncture, herbs, and qigong. Wellness Mart LLC trains people to practice a style of qigong which allows students to execute the forms on their own and to obtain the benefits of each form within a very short time.

What is Qigong ?
Qigong originates from two Chinese words "chi", which means energy, and "kung", which means "work" or the "art of making". Therefore, qigong literally means 'the art of creating or generating energy." Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice of combining gentle physical movements, a specialized form of breathing synchonized with the movements, and meditation. Human beings are energy beings. There are three effects of the practice of qigong on the body's energy system:
1. Qigong cleanses qi of pathogens, impurities, and toxins.
2. Qigong gathers qi, creating a reservoir of healing vital force within the body.
3. Qigong circulates qi, opening blockages and distributing healthy qi to cure disease and promote longevity.
Shaolin Qigong
Qigong has been practiced in China since 500 BCE. There are 5,000 to 7,000 schools or styles of qigong practiced today. The Shaolin style of qigong originated from Bodhidharma, known as the father of Zen Buddhism, who taught 18 qigong forms to monks in the Shaolin monastery in central China in 527 ACE. These 18 qigong forms or exercises are called the 18 Hands of Lohan. Shaolin qigong has been introduced to the Western world by Grand Master Wong Kiew Kit. Wong Kiew Kit is a fourth generation successor of Jiang Nan, the last of the masters of the Shaolin arts, taught by Bodhidharma, and preserved through time by the Shaolin monks in China. Shaolin qigong is known as high level qigong because the forms are simple and yet produce results and benefits within a short time of practicing them.
